Biblical Books for Children

THE BIBLE SERIES

Written for younger children, this large format, full colour 32 page book presents (as far as possible) a tangible Bible object associated with each letter of the alphabet. With this age group it's easier to arouse interest by chatting about physical items which the children have already experienced... they understand baskets, coats, houses and fish.  Discussing an object can lead very naturally to the introduction of a character, a scenario, and ultimately an appropriate Biblical truth.

The Activity Book idea came about as I watched my daughter Debbie (then about 9) play around with a few of my poorly printed pages.  She was colouring the places where the ink was missing, trying desperately to get the colours to match... and loving it!  The 26 pages in the Activity Book are simply line versions of the full colour illustrations of A Bible Alphabet.

Bible Numbers was completed in 2010.  The hand on the front cover was based on a photo of my husband David's hand, holding five (less colourful) stones.

There are many books which can be used to teach the numbers 1-12 to small children, (some like this one, with numbers referring to tangible objects) but my excitement began to mount when I realised the potential within each 'story' for presenting Biblical truth.

The teaching text and colour illustrations are all on the left while the corresponding pictures, to be coloured by the children, are on the facing pages to the right.

Knowing that rearranging numbers might not be a good idea for very young children, it had to be done at the end of the book, in a way that would allow the teaching to be more fully developed by parents or teachers... should they choose to do so.

A further title in this series... Bible Animals  is now both written and illustrated.  Aimed at age 6+, it focuses on what it means to be a Christian; faith in the finished work of Christ, reading the Bible, prayer, listening to God, obedience... loyalty to Jesus.  I pray that it will be a blessing to many children.
